New software enhancement is designed to deliver personalized and purposeful video content at scale

08/24/2020 – Needham, MA

To better support institutions seeking to develop consistent, secure, and measurable video content for their various constituencies, PlatformQ Education announces Workflow, a new LMS solution. Workflow lives within the Conduit platform and enables colleges and universities to develop personalized video and quiz content for new student orientation, staff training and on-boarding. Progress through the content is tracked at the individual level, maximizing engagement and recall of content by the institution’s audience. To “unlock” the next steps in the process, the audience must view video content in its entirety. Quizzes and tests may be added to the process for enhanced engagement.

The COVID-19 pandemic required colleges and universities to rapidly adapt strategies to support students, families, and other key influencers virtually. The nature of video online provides for a wide range of tools for on-demand video distribution. Conduit Workflow provides opportunities to develop formal tracks of step-by-step content when an institution wants to ensure consistent delivery of content to a specific audience; particularly for audiences like enrolling students or new staff members.

“While student recruitment requires a nimble and on-demand experience focused on discovery of video content, these methods are less ideal for incoming students during orientation or new staff members during training and onboarding. Conduit Workflow allows our institutional partners to build personalized sequential content based on an individual’s needs, while ensuring required content is purposefully presented.” said Gil Rogers, Executive Vice President at PlatformQ Education.

The University of Connecticut (UConn) piloted the Conduit Workflow tool beginning in June 2020, supporting over 7,000 students across five campuses through the environment. Nearly 80 individual videos were created by the institution to support the experience. With content specific for each student’s campus, registration status and academic college, students viewed five to eight videos in their specific workflow experience. The result was an over 90% completion rate, the majority of students completed their virtual orientation in one sitting.

Nathan Feurst, Vice President of Enrollment Planning and Management at the University of Connecticut said, “It can be a challenge to manage the expectations and needs of so many audiences when it comes to developing an online orientation program. I’m so proud of the work accomplished by our team, in partnership with PlatformQ Education, to quickly develop a unique and impactful resource that meets the needs of our incoming students, faculty and staff at a truly difficult time. The immediate impact on such a short production timetable is nothing short of amazing.”

Anticipating the continued need for virtual orientation, UConn recently began the development of winter and spring orientation content using the Conduit Workflow tool as well.
